SITE SAFETY COORDINATOR - Ref: 2010-MCH-001

We are currently looking for an experienced Site Safety Coordinator to join our project team working on supply and installation of 2 coal stackers at Mangoola Coal located in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Reporting to the Project Manager you'll be responsible for safety compliance, safety performance, reporting and training. This role will see you completing risk management assessments, internal audits, incident management and reporting, defining and delivering of training, communicating OHS&E and assisting managers on site with achieving their OHS&E objectives. Ensuring all personnel including subcontractors and consultants comply with the requirements of the site safety management plan.
Day to day activities:
- Develop stakeholder relationships
- Promote safe behaviours in all activities
- Implementing site rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies
- Daily inspections & risk assessments of all work areas
- Detailed record keeping and reporting of all incidents
- Develop site safety documentation aligned to project activities
- Maintaining a matrix of completed and required skills training
This is a contract position, assigned for the duration of the project (project scheduled for completion in March 2011), with the opportunities for extension. Attractive and fully negotiable hourly rates.
To be successful for this role you must have:
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and an excellent understand of quality standards and systems are essential
- other relevant certification eg. in Training and Assessment highly regarded
- minimum 5 years experience in safety and health, safety communication, hazard recognition, evaluation and control, personal protective equipment, safety inspections, relevant OH&S rules and regulations on mine site
- ability to communicate and provide advice to a diverse group of people
- experience in strategic planning and management
- ability to work to strict deadlines and with minimum supervision
